  1. ┬áThere are as many as 6 routes to climb the mountain. Taking the longest is the best as it can help you in acclimatisation.
  1. Many climbers fail to reach the summit because of the high altitude and acclimatisation. Altitude sickness is a haunting experience majority of them experience while traversing the high altitude of Kilimanjaro.

  1. Camping is required in all the routes except one route, the Marangu route. This route is not recommended as it is the busiest and less scenic.
  1. There is no facility to shower through the entire trek. Carry adequate baby wipes for your rescue.

Best months to trek:

There are two best seasons round the year for trekking.

One is between January to March, and the other being between June and October. January to March is the colder as compared to June to October. There is a greater possibility of confronting snow on the top during January to March. The added benefit is that there will not be many trekkers around this time of the year. The June to October season is busy as it coincides with the holidays in Europe and North America. This is the busiest time of the year.

  • The trek is similar to just walking from equator to the North Pole when the climatic conditions are concerned. It includes trekking from the cultivated low belt to the ice capped mountains. It is a sight to watch as the vegetation changes from lush green to the harsh desert on the top with snow. The journey to reach the summit, the final destination, is the most spectacular road traversed by any.

The entire trek is adventurous as you traverse through those rough patches and uneven and steep trails up the mountain. The altitude too will create a problem with breathing. It is wonderful to see the trekkers continue their journey through the rough unravelled path to reach the mountain top.
